The French River Provincial Park supports a diverse thriving ecosystem featuring large mammals like moose, black bear, white tailed deer and wolves, alongside aquatic species such as beaver, otter and mink. Birdwatchers can spot bald eagles, golden eagles, ospreys, herons, ducks and many song birds as well as hummingbirds. The park is home to many mammals, moose, black bear, grey wolves, coyotes, lynx, fishers, beavers, muskrat, otters, martens and snowshoe hares.
The river is known for its diverse fish populations which are a major part of the aquatic ecosystem. Large mouth, small mouth bass, northern pike, musky, pickerel, catfish and crappy amongst many others.
The park is part of the Canadian shield characterized by its rocky granite terrain, abundant water and pine forrest providing a rich habitat for this diverse fauna.
